God is a God of promises. He made us, believers in Jesus Christ, promises that come with the new covenant. The Bible says in 2 Cor 1:20 that in Him, all the promises are yes and Amen!
How are we able to believe Him? After all, He gave the children of Israël in the old testament, a promised land, but most of them died in the desert. What happened?
In the book of ‘Numbers’ (13:1-33), 12 scouts, one from each tribe, was sent to the promised land to explore if it was as sensational as God has said it was, how the current inhabitants were and to gather some fruits. For forty days they explored the land to see if it was a good land. When they returned (verses 30-33), 10 scouts told the people that it was a good land, but the task to posses it was impossible, and 2 scouts, Joshua and Caleb, shared Gods opinion, that it was possible to posses the land with Gods help.
The next chapter shows the effect what the opinion of the majority, can do to your faith or trust. Even though Joshua and Caleb said, that the ‘Defence is departed from their enemies (Num 14:9), and knowing that God just saved the people from the Egyptian army in the book of Exodus, they still could not be convinced to trus in Gods promise.
You hear, you choose, you go for it or you stay put. Caleb chose to follow Gods promise. Therefor, eventually, he made it to the Promised land. God said, Caleb had ‘a different spirit’ (Num 14:24). God made sure, Caleb could count on Gods help.
What happened to the other people? They chose not to follow Gods promise, but to listen to the ‘impossibilities’ of the other scouts. They chose to stay put.
What about you?
Do you believe in healing? Do you believe that God wants you well, have a sound mind and a good future?
The Gospel of the Kingdom of heaven, is that Jesus Christ died for you, so your soul can be forgiven (by the shedding of His blood) and your body can be healed and whole (by the sacrifice of His body). Also the good life that God had in mind when He created you, is possible on the inside of you, waiting to come out, under His guidance. God can, or already has, made you: a new creation.
So who is cheering you on, to believe who you have become?
Is your preacher a Joshua or Caleb? Is your heart focused on the ‘Spirit of truth’?
In Isa 53, the Bible says: Who has believed Our report. And Jesus Christ Himself said: the works He did, testified of the promises by God (Joh.10:38 and the fullfilment of Isa 53 in Mat 8:17). God He is the Healer (Jehova Rapha Ex.15:26).
When Jesus Christ was on the earth, He showed the character of God. When He died, He paid with His blood and body for your soul and body to be well. The only thing you ‘must do’, is to rest in the truth, that by His blood, you are saved and by His marred body (isa 52:14) you have been already healed.
Take communion, and remember what He did. It will help you to take time and rest so you can meditate on the truth. The Holy spirit is called the spirit of Truth (John 14:17), and He will come to your aid.
God has already provided everything you need, like healing, wholeness and a saved soul. Just rest in His Good News !
Find your Joshua or Caleb. There are preachers, online, via youtube or if you are lucky, in your home town. Mind this: the other children of Israël, did not listen to Joshua and Caleb, and they perished in the desert.
The good news is, there are brothers and sisters in Christ who have learned to walk in Truth and Grace and they have been exploring the ‘promised land’ of the New Covenant. They can cheer you on, that the promises are also for you! And that indeed, it is possible to walk in this ‘new creation’ that you can or have become. Be of good cheer, Jesus has overcome the World. And with Him by your side, and knowing that the ‘defence’ has departed from your (fill in the thing you have been facing), just like Caleb, or thousands of believers in this century, you can also inhabit your land.
Praise God.
